This is my second mixer purchase. First was a FME20T. These are well built. Overall design is superior to the box store hunter focused mixers out there. I bought the FME series because I also have a TC12 to drive these mixers. And how these setup and integrate is real nice and positive connection. Best was having the ability to download the user manual where you can see the parts breakdown. Having seen how the bearings supported the drive gears and also having a bearing on the opposite drive end on the paddle shaft was the seller. The gear box is pretty much the same on the tilt and non-tilt FME. each gear having a stub shaft supported with a sealed bearing on both sides of the gear. All is held in place by a sandwich etype enclosure design. No special tools needed. The difference between the two is the opposite drive end bearing on the tilt model has a snap ring holding the bearing in.
I'm happy with the quality and finish of this mixer.
My husband really liked this mixer being his first one. He said it turned really easy and the only downfall is that it has screws where it should have pins in it for easier cleaning but all in all hes very happy!
It's a great piece of equipment, specially when yo need to process large amounts of meat... You know, the large amount of meat if you do by hand, your arms will fall off ??. The only thing it's that you need to clean it very good once you use it, but it takes 15 minutes top, no more than that. Remember if you are going to clean it, is everything from the inside and you need to disassemble the crank and remove the screws so that you can clean inside the machine and there are no remains of meat. The first time you do it, if possible record it or take a photo so that you know how things are going and then you can assemble it without problem. After the first time, cleaning is very simple and mechanical.
it claims to be a 15 lb mixer but there is almost no way it will do more than 10 lbs at a time , with that said its built like a tank , very heavy duty , you shouldn't have to worry about bending the paddles , with the gear box its very easy to turn when fully loaded with meat , it mixed the seasoning very well , its hard to get the meat out without taking the paddles out but thats easy to do . overall its a really good mixer , but i will attach my cordless drill to it for our next batch of sausage instead of cranking it by hand ( easy to do ) just to keep from doing all that cranking
